CONTRIBUTOR LICENSE AGREEMENT
Thank you for your interest in contributing to XR Safety Initiative (XRSI) and helping advance safety standards in immersive technologies. Your contributions help create a safer, more responsible XR ecosystem for everyone.
Acceptance
By submitting any contribution to XR Safety Initiative (XRSI), you agree to all terms below.
Copyright License
You grant XRSI a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, copy, modify, distribute, and create derivative works from your contributions for XRSI’s standards development, research, and educational activities.
Patent License
You grant XRSI a license under any patent claims you can license to make, have made, use, sell, offer for sale, import, and have imported your contributions, limited to those claims necessarily infringed by your contributions alone.
Your Rights
You retain ownership of your contributions. This agreement doesn’t change your rights to use your own work for other purposes.
Representations
You confirm that:
- Your contributions are your original work or properly attributed third-party work.
- You have the right to grant these licenses.
- Your contributions don’t infringe third-party rights.
Limitations
- XRSI may use contributions at its discretion but has no obligation to do so.
- You’re not expected to provide support for your contributions, except to the extent you choose to do so.
- This agreement represents the complete understanding between the parties; no implied contracts, expectations of compensation, or additional obligations exist beyond what’s written here.
- XRSI remains free to develop, use, or accept other materials that may be similar to or competitive with your contributions.
- You must notify XRSI if any representations become inaccurate.
No Liability
As far as law allows, XRSI will not be liable for any damages arising from this agreement or use of your contributions.
Governing Law
This agreement is governed by California law without regard to its conflict of laws principles, with disputes resolved in Alameda County, California courts.
Amendments and Survival
XRSI may update this agreement by posting revised terms and notifying you. Continued contributions constitute acceptance of any updates. If this agreement ends, all license grants for past contributions remain in effect, but you may stop making new contributions.
Definitions
- “XRSI” means XR Safety Initiative, a California 501(c)(3) organization, and its affiliates.
- “You” means the individual or entity making contributions.
- “Contributions” means any original work you submit to XRSI for its projects.
- “Affiliates” means any entity that controls, is controlled by, or under common control with XRSI.
