Metaverse Reality Check (MRC) – A global oversight board for and by citizens!

The MRC is the first global mechanism to advise regulators, help governing entities, support individuals and hold big technology corporations accountable for creating a metaverse that is safe for citizens and for society.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Help MRC Program Lead identify priorities, strategically align his/her time with those, and revisit them regularly to assess progress.
  • Act as a key thought partner, brainstorming & identifying solutions to challenges.
  • Manage a variety of long-term, cross-organizational projects (e.g. MRC & XRSI Privacy and Safety Framework, MRC & CyberXR, MRC and Government Institutions, MRC and Advisory Think tanks).  
  • Plan leadership team retreats, developing objectives and agenda, coordinating with other volunteers on logistics.
  • Oversee meeting preparation and planning for teams; support in managing interactions with teams and other volunteers.
  • Provide communications support: drafting emails, reports, memos, presentations, internal and external communications, and/or social media posts.
  • Provide strategy and support for Program Lead on matters relating to program development, new initiatives, outreach to the potential community and business partners and other issues. 
  • Identify and facilitate external relationships that promote MRC’s mission and vision.
  • Explore new partnership opportunities (global, regional, and local) coordination with fellow MRC and XRSI advisers  
  • Assist in advancement and development efforts, helping to obtain financial support for its initiatives, mission, goals and objectives.
  • Perform a variety of financial/business management advice, technical assistance, and related advisory services to MRC and partners.
  • Participate in the development, promotion, coordination, and delivery of various MRC projects and workshops.
  • Administer and monitor specific MRC projects & initiatives, as assigned, to include budget planning and expenditure management.
  • Monitor operational activities and effectiveness of results, and prepare reports as appropriate.
  • Perform miscellaneous activities as required to carry out the advisory role effectively.

Experience & Qualifications  

  • Must be 18 years or older  
  • Interest in issues of online privacy, safety, inclusion, accessibility and ethics
  • Be confident speaking to new people
